Mary Selk, who just turned 98, is planning a concert for former A Cappella or anyone else who wishes to join us on  Saturday October 5, 2019. Time is still being scheduled. There will be rehearsals on Thursday October 3rd and Friday October 4th in the evenings. Again exact times are still being arranged. Of course John "Jack" Waddell will be singing with us. So please leave your schedule open for this occasion. Please let me know if you are planning to join us.

October 5, 2019, Mary Selk needs former chorus members for a concert we will give at Westminster Village. We will practice on Thursday and Friday, 10-3 and 10-4 at 7pm. We will give the performance on Saturday 10-5-2019 at 3pm with a practice shortly before. Let me know if you plan to attend. We need singers. You don't have to have been in A Cappella. Mary is 98 and she is planning to do this one more time in 2021

Hi. Your class doesn’t use this forum much. I am Linda Buttry Roberts and our class of 1963 is active on our website. I remember quite a few of you as I had a Brother David in the class of 1959 and a sister Barbara in the class of 1960.

Are you managing to get through this quarantine period? My son lives in China so I worry a lot about him

Hi, Linda,  I don't remember your brother and sister but I looked them up in my yearbook and see Davre was active in tennis and Barbara took Spanish.  How are they now days?  I'm in California and we've had many cases of the virus here but nobody I know personally.  I have heard of none of our class coming down with the virus.  So far so good.  I hope your son stays well and I will prayer for him.  You take care of yourself.  Worry is a stress and lowere your health system.  I hope both you and your son stay virus free.  Patsy Whitecotton class of 1961

Hi Patsy. Barbara has lived in New Mexico ever since college. David died quite some time ago. I have stayed in Bloomington all these years with State Farm and Country Insurance.

My granddaughter goes to pomona college and has fallen in love with California.

I stay active and still love tennis.

As we think about the 60th Anniversary of our high school graduation, below is an excerpt taken from The Aegis No. 25, May 25, 1961. Hopefully this will bring back pleasant memories of accomlishments made.  Congratulations BHS Class of '61!

The Rev. Harold R. Martin to Address Seniors During Commencement Program in Auditorium

The Rev. Harold R. Martin, minister of the Second Presbyterian Church, will deliver the commencement address to the Class of '61 June 6.  Commencement services will begin at 8 p.m. in the auditorium.  Rev. Martin's address will be entitled "Tomorrow is Today ".  Seniors will open the program with a procession to "March of the Brave," played by the high school band.  Edward T. Harn will direct.  After singing of the national anthem, Rev. Ben Krahn, chaplain of Mennonite Hospital, will give the invocation.  A senior boys ensemble will then sing "Ye Watchers and Ye Holy Ones," arranged by Robert W. Gibb, and "Climbin' Up the Mountain," arranged by Smith.  The 15 boys in the ensemble will include Harold Burgess, Ike Walker, Jim Chestney, Jim Cole, Kenneth Epple, Kent Gummerman, Paul Tepper, and Bob Shipp.  Others in the musical orangization are Bill Brown, Bill Robb, Jack Secord, Steve Short, Bob Kommers, Jeff Leben, and Albert Carnine.  Following Rev. Martin's address, Carolyn Clark will play a piano solo, "Romance," by Sibelius.  Bob Alikonis, President of the Senior Class, will deliver a message from the graduation class before Principal G. Elwood Wheeler presents the class to George N. Wells, Superintendent of Schools.  Following a brief statement by Mr. Wells, Mrs. Arthur W. Tompkins, President of the Board of Education, will award diplomas to the seniors.  After the Rev. Krahn pronounces the benediction, graduates will recess to "Pomp and Circumstance," by Elgar.
