Mathew Boyd Adams, 55, of 1213 Riviera Dr, Bloomington, IL, died at 9:28 a.m. Thursday (May 6, 1999) at Bromenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

His memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington, the Rev. Norbert Karava officiating.  Inurnment will be at 1:30 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.  Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the memorial home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Cancer Center, 407 E Vernon, Normal, 61761.

Mr Adams was born July 28, 1943, in Bloomington, the son of Homer F. and Vulia Lehman Adams.  He married Katherine Aldine Langstaff on August 1, 1971, in Fairbury.  She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jason Mathew Adams, Garland, Texas; and Sean Patrick McGivney, Normal; one stepson, Kelly (Cynthia) James Kinate, Fairbury; and one step-daughter, Kandace (Robert) Boudra, Highlands Ranch, Colorado; five brothers, Homer Adams, Bloomington, James Adams, Normal, William Adams, Bloomington, John Adams, Bloomington and Stephen Adams, Duarte, California; four sisters, Hazel Hart, Bloomington, Enid Adams, Towanda, Shirley Warren, Bradbury, California, and Phyllis J Whiteside, Towanda; and five grandchildren. 

He was a 1961 graduate of Bloomington High School and had graduated from Illinois State University, Normal, with a B.A. in English.  He formerly worked with his father and brother at the Homer Adams Construction Co in Bloomington for more than ten years.  He served in the US Army and Army Reserve for 30 years, retiring in 1997.  He attained the rank of Master Sargeant.
