Rodger C Carson, 50, of RR 3, Bloomington, a geography teacher at Bloomington Junior High for 23 years, died at 9:43 p.m. Thursday (Sept 8, 1994) at his residence.  He had been ill.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Park United Methodist Church, Bloomington, with the Rev Richard Mick officiating.

Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington, with military rites accorded by the McLean Chapter of Viet-Now.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington and 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Park United Methodist Church.

Mr Carson was born Oct 19, 1943, at Bloomington, a son of Maurice L and Gladys Fulkerson Carson.  He married Roberta A Nelson June 19, 1971 at Bloomington.  She survives.

Other survivors include his mother, 907 S Mason St, Bloomington; one daughter, Julie A, at home; two sons, Michael S and Geoffrey A, both at home; and two brothers, Thomas S, Fort Wayne, IN, and Larry A, Bloomington.

His father preceded him in death.

Mr Carson was a member of Park United Methodist Church.

He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the Army from 1967 to 1968 as a medic.  He received a Bronze Star with a "V" for valor.

He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1961 and Illinois State University in 1970, where he received a bachelor's degree in geography.

Memorials may be made to Park United Methodist Church or Bloomington Junior High School.
