JOAN MARIE CHAPMAN 

Joan Marie Chapman Maston born November 5, 1942 in Ottawa, IL.  Parents were Denzil and Loretta Chapman.  She lived in  Ottawa until she went to 5th grade when her family moved to Bloomington, IL.She graduated from Bloomington High School.  After she graduated from high school she went to work as a telephone operator.  While working at the telephone company she met  young man who had just gotten out of the Navy.  They fell in love at first sight and two weeks later they were married.  They were married 42 years when her husband Marvin Maston passed away.  

Joan worked as a truck driver for Film Processor, and the also had two businesses that they owned.  One business was Video and Wedding Pictures.  Joan and Marv owned a professional office building cleaning company.  Joan was running the businesswhen her husband got cancer.

After her husband passed, Joan grieved and grieved.  Joan and her husband were very close and she got sick.  She had some serious medical problems.  One of her closest friends called and said need to come and see Joan.  When I got there I knew I was going to bring her back to Port Orchard.

Joan has lived in Illinois, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Washington state.  Joan Has resided in Port Orchard,  Wa, at Ridgemont Nursing home for the last 14 years. 

Joan was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA.  She volunteered at the local nursing homes.  Three times a week she would go serve tea to those that were confined to their rooms.  She made thousands of cookies.  She had a hugh wicker basket that she filled and would pass them out to those she served tea to.  She loved gardening and she would call it God's Garden.  She had a lot of birds in her garden and she loved sitting just enjoying the birds and flowers.

Joan has two sisters, Erma Lambert (Marv) Port Orchard, WA and Carol Cox (Bob) Greenville, Ohio.  Joan has 5 nieces and 5 nephews.  She was preceded in death by both parents, brothers: Wayne Chapman and Raymond Chapman. Also a great niece Jordyn Knudson.

She will be greatly missed by all.

Patsy Whitecotton (Barggren)

My condolence to the family of Joan on her passing is 2017.  I was saddened to hear this news and that she had spend so many years in a nursing home.  Her classmates will miss her along with her loved ones.  Rest in Peace.  Patsy Whitecotton
