SHIRLEY SMOCK (RUST)

Shirley J. Rust, 75, of Bloomington, passed away Saturday (September 15, 2018) at her home.

Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Carmody-Flynn Home, Bloomington, where visitation will begin at noon.  Cremation rites will be accorded after services.  Inurnment will be at a later date at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Home Sweet Home Ministeries.

She was born July 28, 1943, in Bloomington, daughter of Delmer and Florence Brown Smock.  She married Darwin F. Rust on January 20 1979, in Normal.

Surviving are her husband, Darwin, Bloomington; two sons, Daniel Rust, Bloomington and Todd Price, Champaign; one daughter, Lori Price, Pompano Beach, Florida; and two granddaughters, Melissa and Robin Price.  Also surviving are three sisters, Karen (Melvin Jr.) Peasley, Clinton; Dorothy (Bruce) Kopaskey and Debbie Smock, both of Bloomington.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Delmar Smock, Jr, and one sister, Diane Smock.

Shirley was a 1961 graduate of Bloomington High School. She held various jobs in her lifetime, including working as a secretary in an attorney's offfice in Champaign, helping her husband farm and working as a cafeteria supervisor in Mahomet, where she was also very involved in the community.  Shirley enjoyed crocheting, cooking ahd traveling, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
