Whitney L Brown, 60, of 903 W Market St, Bloomington, died at 6:02 p.m. Friday (July 9, 2004) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Bloomington, the Rev Frank McSwain officating.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Bloomington.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kibler-Smith Funeral Home, Bloomington.

Memorials may be made to the Henry L. Brown Life Center of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church.

Whitney was born Aug 31, 1943, in Memphis TN, a son of Henry L and Gertrude Butcher Brown.  He married Shirley Archibald on Dec 18, 1971.  She survives.

Whitney also is survived by his mother, Gertrude Brown, Bloomington; three sisters, Carolyn N (Allen) Brown and Donise L Brown, both of Bloomington; and Arlene L (Benard) Stevens, Chicago Heights; one brother, Pastor John L (Beulah) Brown, Bloomington; five nephews; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; maternal and paternal grandparents.

Whitney graduated from Bloomington High School.  He worked for Illinois State Uniersity as a building service employee.  He was a licensed plumber.  He had previously worked for Millers' Tru Value and Henry L Brown Plumbing.

Whitney was an Army veteran.

He was an avid sports fan.  He enjoyed reading newspapers.  He loved history, and most of all, he loved his family.
