Completed multiple degrees at Illinois State University and at Northern Illinois University (PhD); married in 1969; moved to Dupage County, Illinois in 1973; served as teacher, school principal, director of special education, and currently as a university professor; frequent speaker in the field of special education and school finance; real estate investor and renovator, antique collector, furniture designer; hire several Amish families in southern Michigan to work with me on my houses; annual bicycling of 1000 miles. Some may recall that I worked as a men's wear clothier (Dewenter's in Bloomington) my junior and senior years in high school and during undergraduate school at ISU.
Sold my house in Dupage County, Illinois, June 2021. I have had enough of Illinois politics and taxes. Temporarily residing in one of my homes in Michigan. Will be moving to Angola, Indiana (far northeast corner of IN.)
School Story:

Actually I have more fond memories of grades seven, eight, and nine spent at Irving Junior High School. With teachers like Ms. Borg, Mr. Sullivan, Mr. Zimmerman, Mr. Schab, Mr. Pointer, and Mr. Frazier.
One story from high school, driver's education class. I only got to drive, behind the wheel, the driver's education car once. At the conclusion of that one experience Mr. Moran, the driver education teacher declared, "I'm taking you down to the Secretary of State's license facility tomorrow to get your license. You know how to drive."
What few know is that Roger Schultz, Bill Brown, and I had been stealing family cars since 8th grade and taking them out for joy rides. We all knew perfectly well how to drive by the time we reached high school.

You have been so sweet and wonderful to send me birthday messages. Thank you. I have been trying for years to work in more time to communicate with members for our graduating class. After working for 62 years, my choice, I finally retired from university teaching in May of 2019. Houses are my hobby so working on them occupies much of my time at the present. It keeps me healthy and strong, such good exercise.
You have a brother by the name of Richard Mishler is that correct? I had a pleasant serendipitous experience with him while attending Irving School. He convened a small group of 2 or 3 of us guys and taught about not using double negatives in a sentence. This was in the hallway. We did not know him at the time but presented ourselves as eager listeners and learners. A lesson I have never forgotten. Wonder why our teachers did not cover this?
